A DELICIOUS MARGHERITA PIZZA RECIPE FOR PIZZA LOVERS
WHAT IS MARGHERITA PIZZA?
Margherita Pizza is a classic Italian dish that consists of a thin and crispy crust, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves. It’s a simple and delicious pizza that is perfect for anyone who loves pizza. The dish was created in the late 19th century in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy and is considered to be one of the first modern pizzas.
INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED:
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 2/3 cup of warm water
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 cup of canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- ½ teaspoon of dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Stir in the warm water and olive oil until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, salt, dried basil, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Place the dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve while still hot.
